No. You can grant temporary access to potential members without requiring them to download the Kisi app or create an account.

Use guest cards, access links, or QR codes to provide one-time or trial access. Simply send a link or QR code via email, or assign a dedicated guest card. Guests can unlock the door by clicking the link, scanning a QR at the Terminal Pro, or tapping the card at the access reader. You can also set validity periods for tighter control.

Kisi offers several backup options if a member’s phone battery dies. You can provide physical credentials (like key cards or fobs), enable Apple Wallet badges that work even when the phone battery runs out, or install an Intercom Pro to assist visitors remotely from anywhere.

Yes, Kisi also works offline. Our readers cache access rights for up to 36 hours, ensuring members can still unlock doors even without an internet connection. All credentials are fully encrypted and authenticated, and unlocks are processed locally. If you have a third-party reader, you can rely on Kisi controllers that cache access rights for offline use based on recent activity, enabling offline access with physical credentials before contacting the legacy controller for unlock requests.
