Name: Engeline Gomez

Department: Sales Team

Role: Senior Account Executive 3

Location: Brooklyn/Remote

Describe your role at Kisi:

I am a Senior Account Executive at Kisi. My primary role is responding to inbound quote requests from both end clients directly and our reseller partners in my territory, which includes California and Europe (excluding the UK). On any given day, I’ll go through my email inbox, deal pipeline, and tasks to follow up with active projects. In addition, I’ll hop on discovery, qualification and demo calls throughout the day.

When I’m not busy doing the above tasks, I’ll occasionally join cross-department meetings to help improve processes, brainstorm new ideas, and provide feedback where relevant to my role.

In general, we’re a super close-knit team and company, so I really appreciate having the opportunity to work closely with others and contribute in other ways outside of closing deals. There’s also a ton of flexibility with the role and schedule, which offers a great work-life balance!

How has your career grown since starting at Kisi?

I joined Kisi in March 2020 as a Sales Development Representative, which at the time included prospecting and outbounding for potential leads. I was also on a fast track to transition to an Account Executive role three months later, so I devoted a lot of my time initially to learn the product, use-cases, and problems Kisi solves to prepare for my transition.

From there, I was promoted to Account Executive II in June 2021 and shortly thereafter to Senior Account Executive III after achieving and exceeding certain milestones.

I would say promotions are generally based on overall performance and knowledge of the product and over time, your pipeline naturally grows between new and existing business, so there is truly so much potential for career growth and also knowledge in a sales role at Kisi.

What has been your biggest accomplishment while working here?

While I’m incredibly proud of my sales performance to date, I would say my biggest accomplishment has been contributing to the company in other ways - more specifically through cross-team collaboration.

I have worked closely with Sales Ops, Product, Customer Success, Customer Enablement, & Marketing to help improve internal processes, prioritize feature requests, provide insights for better-targeted marketing efforts, and more.

I have a bachelor's degree in Business Management & Administration and while my passion lies in sales, I also enjoy strategizing on different aspects of a business and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see my ideas and feedback implemented.

Describe a typical workday for you:

A typical workday always starts with coffee, of course :) From there, the Sales Team meets for a few minutes for a daily standup where we typically discuss any immediate questions or updates. It’s great because it allows us to connect with the entire team every day, especially when a lot of us work remotely full-time.

After that, I’ll tackle my inbox and respond to new quote requests or follow-up emails from the previous day. Then I’ll go into Hubspot (our CRM) and work through my tasks.

After that my main focus is to clean up my pipeline. Even if there are no tasks on certain opportunities, I make it a habit to go through each stage of my pipeline to ensure I’m always aware of my most recent exchange on all my active projects.

Also, throughout the day I, of course, have scheduled calls, demos and meetings (gotta close deals!).

How does the Kisi sales team collaborate and work together, especially being remote?

We’re a very close-knit team! There are currently nine of us on the team and we’re growing! Outside of our daily standup, we have a longer weekly sales meeting to share and collaborate on the team’s successes and challenges from the previous week. It’s definitely a great way for us to connect and learn from each other.

In addition, our HQ is in Brooklyn, NY and most of the team goes into the office a few days out of the week. There’s an awesome rooftop at our building with the best view of the Brooklyn Bridge, so we’ll typically hang out there or at a local spot in Dumbo for team happy hours :)

What would you like to tell potential future team members about your team?

Joining Kisi and more specifically the sales team is a great opportunity for both personal and career growth. You get to work with people from all over the world, and I find that incredibly unique.

In general, we’re more collaborative vs super competitive with one another, and again I think that’s rare to find, especially in a sales environment. Everyone has their own strengths and we’re always excited to bring more team members on board and have them grow and excel with us.

How would you describe Kisi’s culture?

Kisi’s company values are Forward, Human, Trusted and Responsible - and these are certainly qualities the company embodies on a daily basis in many ways. I’d say Human is the one that resonates with me the most because even though we provide a hardware/software access control solution, the conversations we have with clients and the projects our Product Team have much more meaning and depth.

With my clients, I am one of their first touchpoints at Kisi. The common trend I notice in all my conversations is that Kisi is truly solving different problems for businesses of all sizes and for multiple stakeholders within those businesses. When I’m pitching our product, it’s comforting knowing we’re more than just a technology company, we’re actually understanding the “why” behind their use-case and our customers really appreciate that we’re here to help.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?

I would say, one thing that most people don’t know is that I am one of nine children! My mom is also one of nine and I have thirteen cousins on my mom’s side alone. Because I have such a large family, holidays are the absolute best. My father is Venezuelan and my mother is Filipino, so there is truly never a shortage of delicious food at our parties. There’s truly never a dull moment and I wouldn’t have it any other way :)

Current favorite TV show/podcast?

Definitely guilty of tuning into some mindless TV like Real Housewives every once in a while but most of the time, I’ll end up scrolling through Netflix for a new show. Breaking Bad and Money Heist are my top two!

What can you be found doing on the weekends?

I’m a big foodie so I love trying new restaurants on the weekends. My parents were restaurateurs growing up so naturally, I love to eat. In the summer, I’ll ride around NYC on my Vespa, which is super fun and a great way to enjoy the city. Other than that, I’m quite the homebody so I really enjoy relaxing at home with my dog, Cooper, or taking him to the park nearby.
